According to the construction orientation of "three-in-one" of Science and Technology Museum, Nature Museum and Planetarium, a quasi-scientific astronomical observatory (hereinafter referred to as the Observatory) is set up on the roof of the east wing of the main building of the new museum in science and technology hall.
The Observatory is rectangular in shape, with an area of about 85 square meters. It consists of astronomical observation system (including five astronomical telescopes), observation environment monitoring system, live broadcast and distance education system, etc. It can carry out all-weather astronomical observation and CCD camera observation at night, and can realize the tracking and live broadcast of stars, deep-space celestial bodies, planets, asteroids, comets, artificial satellites (iridium scintillation, space station, Tiangong, etc.) and special celestial phenomena online. Through direct observation, online live broadcast, distance teaching, special lectures and other rich exhibition and teaching activities, we can better and more extensive knowledge of popular science astronomy, show the charm of astronomical scientific research, stimulate public interest in science, and promote the improvement of scientific quality and ability of the whole people.
